Competitive Team Try-Outs General Information
Arrive with plenty of time to sign in, fill out the tryout form if not done so already online, and collect your number. There will be no formal warm-up, so please ensure that all dancers are properly stretched and ready to go to avoid injury. Only those students who have signed in and collected their numbers will be allowed to participate in the audition process.
Students must wear appropriate dance attire for the genre they are auditioning for. If you do not have proper footwear for specific styles, you may wear the dance shoes that you feel most comfortable in. Hair must be worn up and out of the dancer’s face. If you are unsure of the dress code, please visit our Class Description page.
Mini dancers will be asked to demonstrate flexibility and age-appropriate movements across the floor. Junior, Intermediate and Senior dancers will be taught a short combination and asked to perform it. This allows instructors to assess each dancer’s comfort level while performing as well as their ability to retain and execute a combination. Instructors will also be at assessing flexibility and skill level to place each dancer in the most appropriate routine.
Please bring a water bottle, all required proper dance attire and shoes, and a snack if there is a break between tryouts.
We are looking for enthusiastic students with positive attitudes who have stage presence, dance well with team members, and easily follow instructions for our competitive team.
